Highway Traffic Board Appeals
Pursuant to the Highways Protection Act, decisions made by the Highway Traffic Board can be appealed to the PUB. These decisions usually involve either driveway access to provincial highways or placement of signs, especially electronic signs, beside Manitoba highways. Appellants have included local landowners, businesses, and the Department of Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation.
Generally, the Board visits the site and holds a public hearing in the area. The Board will assess the facts and hear the parties before making a decision. Decision criteria include fairness and road safety.
